See Rock City! Summer Vacation Day 4

We started our day with a scenic drive through the mountains of Tennessee.

Our first stop was Ruby Falls/Lookout Mountain. Ruby Falls is a 145-foot high underground waterfall located within Lookout Mountain. The rich history of this cave includes Native Americans, cave explorers, notorious outlaws, and civil war soldiers. http://www.rubyfalls.com/

Next, we headed to Rock City or other wise known as "See Rock City" on all of the signs posted in Tennessee. Rock City is located at the top of Lookout Mountain. Rock City is natural massive ancient rock formations and gardens with over 400 native plant species, and breathtaking "See 7 States" panoramic views. This was our surprise and favorite part of the day! http://www.seerockcity.com/

Our last stop of the day was the Inclined Railroad. The Incline Railway ( incline of 72.7%) is the world's steepest passenger railway that overlooks the Chattanooga Valley. On top of the mountain is also a Civil War Battle field.

It was a l-o-n-g day filled with beautiful scenery and interesting history.

During day three of our trip we took it easy and headed to the Mercier Orchards to eat lunch. Well, we ended up loving it so much that we ate there two more times during our trip. One as lunch take out and another for an amazing good-bye breakfast.

The girls completed a session of swim lessons at Lake Brantley Aquatic center.

Kendall cried at first, but slowly began enjoying it.

It was surprising to see the progress she made!

Lauren turned into a true fish! She was swimming half of the giant sized pool (not sure how many feet) all by herself. She was learning so many new swim strokes. My favorite was watching her swim with fins on her feet!

We started our Halloween celebration off the weekend before. 7 months was definitely Kendall's month! She mastered crawling and has been ALL over the place. It's amazing to see the control she has over her body from laying, to flipping herself over, to sitting, then to crawling, pulling herself in the standing position, and the newest is furniture surfing! Crazy how natural it is. Kendall on the move! Watch out....

A Bouncing Good Time

I took the girls to Monkey Joe's for the 1st time. Lauren was daring enough to try the BIG slide but refused to come down when she got too scared! One of the workers had to stop the kids from getting on the slide so Lauren could come down the stairs instead of the slide. And THANKS to her friend Nick for rescuing her! "Weeee....." down a smaller slide!
Poor Kendall didn't get any good napping time since she had to sit in this itty bitty stroller. If you look closely at her hand you can see what she thought of all the kids playing without her! Who's teaching my child this???

These two cutie babes are only 1 month apart. It's so exciting to see them grow and interact with each other from floor play to now sitting up! They are intrigued by each other's faces. Kiley wants to give kisses and Kendall wants to pull on her! Lauren loves watching the babies play. But of course can be too much of a helper......by bumping their noggins together! Oops... Kendall loves her friends!

I started putting baby orajel on Kendall's gums before bedtime. The poor girl has been teething since month 3. Tonight as I gave her a nightly dose I felt something sharp! Her teeth are coming! She has two cracked gums on the bottom. One with what feels to be a sharp razor blade! I know it will be soon that her grin is filled with two itty bitty white caps. Oh, and there is more trouble to come of her when she has teeth. I would say poor me.....but poor Lauren is better! Those cute play bites are going to start to hurt. ;-)

We just had a wonderful weekend vacation in Hollywood, FL. The girls were great car travelers! We were amazed at how well they both did. The family stayed at Aunt Jan's house. We played at the beach! Had some pool time and visiting with my Aunt Carol, Uncle Pat, and cousin's Chris and Nicholas. Ate some yummy food and a little bit of shopping. It ended with a crazy drive home due to detours and weather. The weekend flew by too fast!

We got to my Aunt Jan's house so very late Thursday night. We all needed a pick me up the next morning! Mmmm....hot chocolate!
We started our trip by heading to Hollywood Beach.
This was the very first beach I ever dipped my baby toes into!

Today we visited to our local library. (Barnes and Noble will miss us.) Lauren got her own library card and signed up to participate in the summer reading program. Every night after her usual story time she can place a sticker on the chart they provided and after 20 days she gets to turn it into the library for an award and free paperback book. She is really excited! Plus, she just LOVES books.

Happy Independence Day!
We had a weekend full celebration starting with pool, BBQ, and Red, Hot, and Boom fireworks, then a wedding to attend on the 4th with a beautiful firework show from the Westin's rooftop overlooking Lake Eola, and finally more pool and grilling to end it all up!Pool Fun!Oh, Auntie Ney-Ney!Our little fish likes her wings. Even though she has shown us she can do it she tells me that she will swim on her own when she's bigger because it's "dangerous." Slowly we'll deflate the wings...hehe!

Time goes by way to fast! I feel like just yesterday I was bringing her home from the hospital.

Kendall's 6 month updates!

Growth: Weighing in at 13 lbs even and 25 1/4 length. Still an itty bitty on the charts for weight and 50-75% for height. She gains a consistent pound a month, which is just perfect for her. I so wish I had her metabolism!

Health: Two doctors have confirmed that Kendall is suffering from allergies! Poor baby. All this time I've thought she's had colds with this stuffiness but it's really something she's allergic to (cross my fingers it's not Bailey.) So she has been taking Clartin to help her. It really does seem to work! We are going to reevaluate her allergies around 9-12 months and possibly start some blood work to see what the little pumpkin is allergic to.

Mode of Transportation: Kendall is practicing rolling over to get to something after attempting to crawl. When the crawling doesn't work out for her she turns into a worm or tries an army crawl to push or pull (depending on the surface) to get what she wants. I love watching her try new ways to explore! She was also quite a show off with her doctor and sat up better for him unattended than she does for me at home. Way to go Kendallishous!

Social Butterfly: Well, well... Kendall has learned exactly how to grab our attention. I'm starting to hear more temper whines when she wants me or can't reach a toy. She has many giggles and happy sounds, too. Like one of her favorites is blowing "raspberries." Not one of Mommy's favorites when she is eating! Kendall is easily handed over to new people, but has started to show signs of stranger anxiety.....like today with her nurse. She wanted Mommy! hehehe....

It is amazing to watch her learn and grow!Lauren made her a Birthday Sign!

Ahhh....... what a beautiful day for the beach! Thanks to Kristan for planning a beach day with the best RBE girls. The ocean was gorgeous! We were lucky to see dolphins nearby and a little white crab running back to the sea.

That's not milk in her bottle, it's..... PRUNE juice! Good old doctor prescribed prune juice, good for the old and the young. It works! We had one full, stinky diaper in no time! Kendall started dinnertime solids. I make my own little concoction of bananas or applesauce mixed with breast milk to boost those calories, which will equal chunky thighs! So prune juice will be stocked in my house until her little body digest the foods better.

On June 18th, we celebrated our 5 year anniversary! We had two jealous itty-bittys that wanted in the picture.

After all, they are what has come from this love story!

We planned a mini get-a-way at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort.
It reminded us of our honeymoon!
We had a wonderful, kid-free vacation. We went to 3 of the theme parks and rode all the roller coasters we could find. Just don't tell Lauren that we went without her....shhhh!

Dancing Queen

Lauren has been introduced into the world of dance! We enrolled Lauren at Turning Point Dance Studio. She has been keeping our summer very busy with swim and dance! She absolutely LOVES dance class! It's a fun class that combines Creative Movement, Ballet, Tap and Tumbling while working gross motor skills and learning the basic fundamentals of dance. Our little ballerina practicing at home.

Kendall is a trooper for being lugged around to all of Lauren's activities!

Swim Lessons

Lauren started swim, again. This summer we are trying group lessons at Westmonte Park in Altamonte. From what she was able to accomplish last summer, she seems a bit more advanced. However, since she is sooooo incredibly SHY...these lessons will help her open up to new people and environments, hopefully.

At the end of her lesson the classes get to have 10 minutes of play in the kiddie pool. These lessons are completely different from last summer's one-on-one lessons, in many ways. Lauren loved hanging in the kiddie pool. Great incentive for hard work!

Lauren is loving how big and strong Kendall is getting! The two of them just adore each other. Kendall is always looking around for Lauren. Let's see how much they still adore each other when Kendall is getting into Lauren's toys!

Ending the School Year

As most of you know I returned back to work for 6 weeks and three days...to be exact! During the last week I was fortunate enough to have Daddy bring the girls in for a visit. While he was there he read, "Bigfoot Cinderella" to my class since our last unit of study was Fairy Tales. Lauren LOVED being at my school. She sat in a chair to listen to Daddy read and helped Mommy by being the line leader when I walked the students to the cafeteria. Lauren was terribly sad to leave Mommy at work! Notice the frown ;-(
